Helping neighbors in the DMV area electrify their homes
Navigating the switch to an all-electric home is easier with our local volunteer team of electric coaches by your side.
Why Electrify?
Comfort & Health
Boost home comfort with a comprehensive energy audit and breathe easy with electric heat pumps and induction cooking. Eliminate indoor combustion for cleaner, healthier air while enjoying efficient heating, cooling, water heating, and cooking.
Costs & Efficiency
Enhance energy efficiency and save money on home heating and cooling, water heating, and vehicle maintenance and fueling—while gaining protection from fossil fuel inflation. Realize potential tax incentives and long-term affordability with these sustainable choices.
Convenience & Performance
Enjoy balanced heating and cooling with a heat pump, more responsive cooking with an induction range, a superior driving and fueling experience with an electric vehicle, and a quieter, cleaner neighborhood with electric yard equipment.
Climate Change
Reduce emissions by replacing inferior fossil fuel equipment with better electric machines powered by renewable energy sources like rooftop solar.
Coaching Topics
-
A home energy audit can identify wasted energy and safety issues, unlock rebates, and suggest solutions.
-
Interested in upgrading your home to all-electric appliances and vehicles? Work with a coach to think through a plan based on your particular home, lifestyle, and priorities.
-
Whether you’re electrifying one appliance or all of them, you’ll likely need an electrician to pre-wire your home. With some planning, most homes can electrify everything in their home on their existing panel.
-
Rooftop solar uses solar photovoltaic (PV) panels to turn sunlight into electricity. PV panels can be installed on your roof, or even in your yard. They produce no carbon emissions and can save you thousands of dollars a year. If rooftop solar doesn't work for you, you may be able to participate in a Community Solar program.
-
The best way to heat your home in the winter and cool your home in the summer is with a heat pump. Heat pumps are more energy efficient than other heating and cooling systems like gas furnaces, oil heat, and central air.
-
Heat pump hot water heaters (HPWHs) — also referred to as hybrid hot water heaters or electric heat pump water heaters — are the most energy-efficient water heaters on the market. Like heat pumps, HPWHs efficiently transfer heat instead of creating it, which leads to hundreds of dollars per year in savings for the average household.
-
Induction and conventional electric stoves are the best way to cook. They don’t burn fossil fuels or release toxic pollutants into your home and the environment.
-
We like all types of electric clothes dryers, but we especially love heat pump clothes dryers. Heat pump clothes dryers use less energy, don’t require ventilation, and are gentler on clothes.
-
Electric vehicles (EVs) are more efficient than gas-powered cars and trucks and better for the environment, too. Buying an EV is a great first step on the path to electrifying everything!
-
Electric mowers and other lawn tools can make your yard look great without releasing pollution and unhealthy gases into the atmosphere. That’s because they use electricity to run more efficiently, cleanly, and quietly.
-
Electric bikes (e-bikes) are a fun and eco-friendly way to get around. With a little pedal power and a battery boost, you can zip through traffic, conquer hills, and enjoy the ride. Making the switch to an e-bike is a simple step towards a greener, healthier you!
